My first day at school as a teacher was a day worth remembering. I couldn't keep myself from stammering and I wouldn't respond if I'm called "Sir" by my pupils. To me, being inside the classroom was a new concept. I'm used by being a student - just sitting down, taking notes, occasionally chatting, occasionally daydreaming. Of course, I can't help myself from erasing the mindset of being a student - I've been always a student for the past 17 years of my life! So, being the center of attraction, being the boss, giving lectures, erasing the dusty blackboard, writing notes on the board, and occasionally scolding noisy students were the new roles I had to do.
After teaching for one term, I went back to Cebu to take the ECE licensure exams. I was elated when I passed it with flying colors (I got the second place.) After this, I applied for job positions in numerous companies. There were a lot of interesting offers from good companies, but I can't resist this offer from a newly-established internet solutions firm called JUMBOnet Philippines Inc.
The owner told me he was willing to train me to become a JAVA programmer. To my knowledge, JAVA is one of the hottest programming languages. A trendy internet site can't call itself "cool" and "in" if not for its JAVA applets.
Training was done in a period of one and a half months. At the end of the training, I was expected to know not only JAVA but HTML as well. Training was supposed to be conducted by a software engineer from France but most of our knowledge was accumulated through the good, old, self-teaching method of reading a lot of books!
In the end, I got what I wanted. The fruits of my labor not only included the technical know-how but also two new applets which I constructed within 5 months.
Plans for the future
When it comes to work, I definitely want a good paying job that gives me a whole lot of experiences (practicality, knowledge, technicall know-how, inter-personal relations.) If you are a prospective employer, please view my resumé or contact me through e-mail.
